My philosophical approach to my work:
Forested ecosystems do not need humans but humans rely on forest ecosystems for forest products and ecosystem services as well as for aesthetics, recreation and other non-market-related values. In order for human needs to be met, these ecosystems must be managed, but management must consider the value the long-term health and functionality of the ecosystem and value that more than human objectives. Forest management should be based on the latest knowledge and understanding of forest ecosystems but we must also acknowledge that we know only a portion regarding the functionality of these systems. Management activities should be well thought-out and implications of the activities should be considered.
